Getting your caddie moving in the proper direction should never be a problem. If it has become one, you may need the Club Car Transmission Cable for the 1984 through 1997 DS models. Several moving parts allow a gas cart to shift gears. The cables are just the most prominent part of the system, next to the handle itself, maybe. They connect the shifter knob to the rear transmission when the cable pulls on a lever. This shifts a gear internally and allows the differential to spin the wheels in the other direction. If that cable is bound up or broken, you will be stuck in whatever gear you were in last.
This aftermarket golf cart forward and reverse shift cable measures 63 inches long and is only used on gas vehicles. The electric models shift gears through reversing polarity at the motor, which is a discussion for a different page.
